7029 - Marilyn Monroe - Signed film-reel tribute presentation

Marilyn Monroe - Signed film-reel tribute presentation

Marilyn Monroe - Signed film-reel tribute presentation

Item Number:  7029

This superb digitally re-produced special edition signed presentation pays tribute to one of the most famous females of all time, Marilyn Monroe.

It displays a stunning ‘Film-Reel’ triple photo presentation with iconic images of Monroe. Under this and separately mounted is the signature of Marilyn Monroe.

It is presented in a black surround with double inset white mounts and a plaque, measuring a large and impressive 108cm x 45cm.

The plaque reads as follows; MARILYN MONROE (1926-1962) - The original of this signature was obtained in person at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia. The person recounts that he recognised Joan Copeland, the actress and sister of Arthur Miller (Monroe's partner), while waiting in the hotel lobby. He moved toward her and overheard the concierge give the room number 215. He went to the room, knocked on the door and Arthur Miller opened. He nervously asked him for Miss Monroe's autograph. Miller went back in the room (leaving the door ajar) and in a few moments Marilyn Monroe appeared 'positively glowing' in a bath robe, and supplied her signature.

A wonderful item of vintage film memorabilia that would grace any location in the home or office and make a great gift for a Marilyn Monroe fan.

After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, Monroe began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946. Her early film appearances were minor, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) were well received.

By 1953, Monroe had progressed to leading roles. Her "dumb blonde" persona was used to comedic effect in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and The Seven Year Itch (1955). Limited by typecasting, Monroe studied at the Actors Studio to broaden her range, and her dramatic performance in Bus Stop (1956) was hailed by critics, and she received a Golden Globe nomination.

Her production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, released The Prince and the Showgirl (1957), for which she received a BAFTA Award nomination and won a David di Donatello award. She received a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Some Like It Hot (1959).
