David Bairstow - Signed First day cover

This superb item of signed Cricket Memorabilia is a colourful First Day of Issue cover, stamped 8th of August 1984, and personally signed by the late and great Yorkshire legend, David Bairstow. (1 September 1951 – 5 January 1998) He played for Yorkshire throughout his career, and captained the club from 1984 to 1986. Nicknamed "Bluey" on account of his red hair, Bairstow was influential for his aggression on the field and for his playing statistics. In 459 first-class cricket matches he scored 13,961 runs at an average of 26.44 with a highest score of 145, catching 961 and 137 stumpings and perhaps stands second only to Jimmy Binks in the archives of Yorkshire wicket keeping. Bairstow played 429 one day matches, scoring 5,439 runs at 20.68 with one century and was a popular figure with the Yorkshire crowds. He also player football for Bradford City. This First Day of Issue cover is a ‘Leaders of The World’ celebration, with stamps depicting Bairstow, and measures 18cm x 11cm. It is presented in excellent condition and is a fine item of signed Cricket Memorabilia.
