All Blacks Memorabilia Your Guide to All Blacks Rugby MemorabiliaNew Zealand was introduced to Rugby Football in the late 1860’s by Charles Monro, who discovered Rugby while studying in England. The first match was played in 1870 between the Nelson Club and Nelson College. The first international match was played against New South Wales, known then as Southern Rugby Union. New Zealand played their first test match in 1903 while touring Australia, beating the Australian national side. New Zealand are known as the All Black’s and play in the Tri Nations competition which is against their southern hemisphere rivals, Australia and South Africa. The All Blacks have a great record in this tournament with nine wins They also won the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987 and have a higher winning record against every nation that they have played except South Africa.
